Bolivia Itinerary

Bolivia is bright colors, outdoor markets, meals full of care and shy smiles. As we are travelling through the country, we feel its true essence on every interaction. Simple yet so rich.

Our first stop in Bolivia was on the 3 day 2 night tour to Salar de Uyuni – an incredible experience. The landscape changes drastically every 10 minutes and you are truly off the grid.

We headed north to Lake Titicaca for 5 days, to visit Copacabana and Isla del Sol. The days were quite, sunny and with a lot of breathtaking trekking.

Next we flew to Santa Cruz and Samaipata for 5 days, to visit the Amboro National Park and all its wonders. Samaipata is such a picturesque, cultural small village – totally worth it.

We finished our journey in La Paz for 6 days, wandering the city, devouring street food and also venturing on the Death Road.

Moving around in Bolivia

The transportation between destinations was something that was worrying us while planning our trip to Bolivia. The reviews of the bus companies are quite scarry, and there didn’t seem to be a lot of alternatives. What we realised is travelling by bus is not entirely safe, specially on night routes. Our advice is: look for the “tourist” company for your destination, prefer day buses unless there is a well reviewed company (such as TodoTurismo between La Paz and Uyuni). Flights are also available not so expensive.

Larger cities have ride-hailing apps such as Cabify, Uber or others.
