Guatemala Itinerary

After 42 countries, Guatemala is still at the top of our list. Yes, it can be influenced by the fact that it was our first trip together. However, you can’t deny how authentic, simple and beautiful the country feels.

Locals are heartwarming and most destinations are still unspoiled. You truly feel lucky to stepped unto something unique.

In the last years, Guatemala has become more popular among travelers. We hope you can still enjoy it us much as we did.

We landed in Ciudad de Guatemala and headed straight to Antigua – a Unesco Heritage colorful village – , on the base of a vulcano.

We visited Lake Atitlan and the surrounding villages, getting to know the local culture and religious history.

Next stop was the incredible Semuc Champey – a full day of adrenaline, amazing viewpoints and relaxing pools. For visiting Semuc Champey we stayed at El Retiro in Lanquin, which we reached by a very local Transportes Martinez.

A shuttle took us to our last stop – the lovely town of Flores. From Flores we visited Tikal, the impressive Maya ruins.

From Flores we headed east to Belize.

Moving around in Guatemala

At the time of our visit there were comfortable shuttles to almost any destinations. Everything seems to just workout the way you need it to.

From Ciudad de Guatemala we took an uber to Antigua. Thought it is a 45 minute drive, the uber was quite cheap and it felt easier than getting into the fuss of the big city, which is not very safe.
